I don’t know about you, but these past months, when so much has been impossible to do due to the shutdown and restrictions, not being able to do sports several times a week has really left its mark…. aka my fitness has suffered.
Not that I am a super athlete or anything, but under usual circumstances I’d have my karate and bellydance training and dance club, supplemented by daily yoga. This may sound like a lot, but really it is above all a lot of fun.
I hadn’t realized how big of an impact this regular exercise had on my body and my overall well-being until I was no longer able to do most of it. The only thing left for the longest time was the morning yoga sessions, and while that really is a good thing, it’s not enough in the long run.
I was so glad when restrictions were lifted and we were slowly able to get back to at least some semblance of training recently! It’s not the same, but it’s better than nothing, that’s for sure. And starting slowly back up is actually perfect, after not having done much of anything for so long…
Plus, I discovered a new form of exercise: MTB! I admit, I get support from a little motor, but living on top of a pretty steep hill is demotivating to say the least, so this gets me out and onto the trails, which I wouldn’t do otherwise.
And I have already started to notice how my concentration (and mood) has improved, as well – and that’s something you shouldn’t underestimate, especially as a freelancer!
